Term 2 2026

Welcome to Week 8

  • Feast of the Corpus Christi
Last Thursday, the College gathered as a whole-school community to celebrate the Feast of Corpus Christi. In celebrating this very special Mass, we joined millions of others around the world whose focus at this time is the real presence of Jesus in the Eucharist. As Pope Leo XIV reminded us during his homily in Madrid on 7 June, “we are gathered around the Eucharist, the gift of Christ’s living presence among us.”

For us as a College, this celebration holds particular significance. The Eucharist is not only central to our faith, but also at the heart of our identity as Corpus Christi. It is a constant reminder of Christ being present in our midst, shaping how we live and calling us to reflect this presence in our daily lives.

We are not simply named after the Eucharist – we are called to be its living expression. This means being a community that makes Christ visible in our connections and relationships with others. It means building a culture where faith is lived with authenticity, where each person is known, valued and cared for.

The Feast of Corpus Christi also reminds us that Christ is present in the world around us. As Pope Leo shares, “he is not confined to the church, but comes out to meet us.” This challenges us to carry that presence of Jesus into our College and wider communities through acts of compassion, generosity and service.

Corpus Christi means the Body of Christ. We are one school, one community, one body in Christ, with each person having a unique and valued role to play. Our mission calls us to recognise the needs of others and to create an environment where each person can flourish. As Christ is given to us in the Eucharist, we too are called to be present to one another.

As we continue through the term, may we carry forward the spirit of this celebration, seeking to make Christ present in the way we learn, the way we lead, and the way we support one another as a College community.

A special thank you to Fr Phong for celebrating this very special Mass. We are always grateful to him and the St Thomas More Parish for their outstanding support of our College community.

Thanks also to our amazing staff and student Catholic Identity and Ministry teams, and our wonderful musicians, for their terrific contribution to the Mass.

    First Holy Communion
On Saturday 6 June, students from our Year 4 cohort celebrated their First Holy Communion at St Thomas More Parish. This was a deeply significant moment in their faith journey and a special occasion for our College community.

In receiving the Eucharist for the first time, students encounter the Body of Christ in a very real and personal way. It is a sacred step that invites each student into a deeper relationship with Christ and a fuller participation in the life of the Church. To celebrate this sacrament on the weekend of the Feast of Corpus Christi made the occasion even more meaningful for our students.

We are very grateful to Fr Phong and the St Thomas More Parish community for such a beautiful celebration of First Holy Communion. There was a genuine sense of joy throughout the Mass, with a reverence and warmth that reflected just how significant this moment is for the students and their families.

Our students were very well prepared to receive their First Holy Communion. The time and commitment given to their formation were evident in the way they approached the sacrament with respect, reverence and a clear appreciation of its importance. We thank the Parish Catechist team and our own College staff for their dedication in preparing students to receive the Sacrament of the Holy Eucharist.

It was also wonderful to see the church filled with families and friends, all gathered to celebrate alongside the students. This shared experience highlighted the essential role families play in nurturing and strengthening the faith of our young people.

    LifeLink
In keeping with the theme of Corpus Christi and being the face of Jesus in this world, we are very excited to be hosting the Archbishop’s official launch of the 2026 LifeLink Day for Primary Schools here at the College on Wednesday this week.

The LifeLink organisation was established in 1994 to “unite and provide a recognisable identity for all the individual welfare and social service agencies supported by the Church here in the Archdiocese of Perth.”

LifeLink helps us to better understand the needs of others in our wider community and challenges us to take responsibility for supporting those who are vulnerable. By learning about the work of these agencies and contributing through our own efforts, we show care and compassion in a real and practical way, bringing the message of the Gospel to life through our actions.

Best wishes and every blessing

Jeff Allen

Principal

Your care, patience, and attention reflect our shared responsibility, as outlined in the Parent Code of Conduct. Thank you for helping us keep our community safe.

At our recent Corpus Christi Mass and Celebration, the standard and presence our students displayed were exceptional. Uniforms were worn with pride as we gathered for this special occasion. Our College uniform is more than what students wear, it represents a shared commitment to who we are and who we aspire to be. When worn well, it reflects each student’s readiness to grow, lead, and serve within a tradition that spans more than 40 years.

We appreciate your support in maintaining these expectations by helping students prepare for the week ahead, ensuring uniforms are neat, tidy, and ready to wear, and that students leave home in full and correct uniform, signifying their readiness to learn.

  • From Monday 4 May (Term 2, Week 3):
All students are expected to be in the full Winter Uniform.

We kindly remind families that wearing the College uniform with pride is an important part of who we are at Corpus Christi. All students are expected to follow the current Uniform Guidelines, ensuring we continue to present ourselves with excellence in our community. You can view the full guidelines here: Link here.

  • It is undeniable that fidget tools (sometimes referred to as fidget toys or sensory accessories) are widely available and increasingly popular within occupational therapy practices, school settings and the wider community. With items such as pop-its, tangle puzzles, putty, chair bands, and fidget cubes readily accessible, we are seeing a growing number of students drawn to these tools across our classrooms.

At Corpus Christi College, teachers advocate for adjustments and supports that create the right conditions for each student to learn at their very best. This provides an opportunity to clarify the role of fidget tools and how they can be used most effectively in classrooms.

We’d Love to Celebrate Your Child’s Achievements

At Corpus Christi College, we’re proud of the many talents and passions our students pursue beyond the classroom. Whether it’s a sporting triumph, a creative milestone, or a personal best in a beloved hobby, we’d love to share and celebrate these moments with our College community.

If your child has recently achieved something special, please send us:

  1. A photo of your child engaged in their activity (where possible, without other people in the image)

  2. A short write-up of their achievement

  3. Their year level and House

We’ll feature these stories in our College e-newsletter to inspire and celebrate the diverse gifts of our students.
