Term 2 2026

Welcome to Week 6

  • National Reconciliation Week

Our whole school community gathered together yesterday for a very meaningful assembly to mark the beginning of Reconciliation Week. This special event was enriched by the presence of First Nations Elder Robyn Collard, accompanied by her grandsons Izayah and Tryse, whose attendance and contributions made the occasion both memorable and impactful.

Students and staff gathered in a yarning circle - an intentional and symbolic way of coming together to listen, learn and share stories. This space allowed our community to engage respectfully with the knowledge and wisdom offered, reflecting the spirit of connection and understanding that sits at the heart of Reconciliation Week.

This year’s Reconciliation Week theme, ‘All In’, encourages every Australian to actively participate in the journey towards Reconciliation. As highlighted during the assembly, being ‘All In’ means more than simply observing - it calls for genuine commitment. It asks each of us to listen deeply, to learn with openness, and to demonstrate respect through our everyday words and actions.

This message strongly aligns with our College Vision of being Outstanding for Others. As a learning community, we are called not to stand on the sidelines, but to step forward with courage and purpose, choosing action over inaction in support of others. Reconciliation is not a passive concept, rather it is something that lives in our hearts, shapes our thinking, and guides our behaviours.

Our location also adds profound significance to this journey. We are situated alongside Piney Lakes, which has been a place of learning for the Whadjuk Noongar people for thousands of years. This area has long been a site of cultural teaching, where knowledge of land, lore, and life has been passed from Elders to younger generations. It is also a place of ceremony, healing, and the sharing of women’s knowledge and wisdom. Recognising this history invites us to reflect deeply on our responsibility to honour and respect First Nations heritage and to continue the legacy of learning connected to this place.

As part of the day’s activities, our community participated in a pilgrimage walk - an outward sign of our shared commitment to reconciliation. This collective action symbolised our intention to walk together, united in purpose, and ‘All In’ on the journey towards a respectful and inclusive future.

We extend our sincere thanks to Elder Robyn Collard, along with Izayah and Tryse, for generously sharing their stories and inspiring our community. Their presence reminded us of the importance of listening to First Nations voices as we continue to learn and grow.

We also acknowledge the efforts of Deputy Principal Catholic Identity and Mission, Mr Damian Ramos, as well as the Staff and Student Ministry Teams, for their dedication in organising such a meaningful event. Their work ensured that this experience was both engaging and impactful for all involved.

    Commitment Mass

Our Year 4 students preparing for the Sacrament of First Holy Communion recently took another important step in their faith journey through a workshop held at the College followed by a special Commitment Mass at St Thomas More Parish.

During the preparation workshop, students explored the meaning of the Eucharist and its importance in their faith life. Through activities, discussion, and reflection, they developed a deeper understanding of this special Sacrament and what it means to receive Holy Communion.

The Commitment Mass was a joyful celebration that brought students and their families together with the Parish community. It provided a meaningful opportunity for students to publicly express their intention to continue their Sacramental journey, strengthening their connection to the Parish. We thank Fr Phong as always for his outstanding support of our students. The College choir added beautifully to the celebration, and we thank them for sharing their gifts with us.

As students continue their preparation, we encourage them to reflect on how they can live out their faith each day. We keep them and their families in our prayers as the students look forward to receiving their First Holy Communion on Saturday 6 June.

    College Tour Day

Last Tuesday’s College Tour morning was a wonderful showcase of the spirit and community that make Corpus Christi College so special. A highlight of the tour was our student tour guides, who spoke with confidence and authenticity about their experiences of College life. Representing both the Junior and Senior School, these students shared personal stories that brought to life the learning, friendships, opportunities, and sense of belonging that define the Corpus experience. Their pride in their school was evident as they warmly welcomed prospective families and provided genuine insight into what it means to be part of our community.

The day also reinforced Corpus Christi College’s strong reputation as a school of choice within the community. Visitors experienced firsthand the College’s commitment to nurturing each student’s academic, social, spiritual, and personal growth. From vibrant classrooms to co-curricular opportunities and pastoral care, the holistic education on offer was clear in every interaction and display. It was a memorable day that not only celebrated our students but also highlighted the exceptional and well-rounded journey available to every Corpus Christi College student.

    Parent Workshop

Thank you to those parents, caregivers and friends who were able to attend the special presentation from speaker and author Jade Lewis held in the Caroline Payne Theatre on Thursday last week. This very engaging and informative presentation provided parents with practical, actionable strategies to assist them in helping their teenage children navigate challenges and make positive choices.

In continued support of parents’ engagement, we remind all families that our own Head of Wellbeing, Ms Luisa Rossi, and the Wellbeing Team will be running a strength-based parenting session at the Friends of Corpus Workshop this Wednesday 27 May commencing at 6.30pm in the James Nestor Junior building. We warmly welcome all parents and caregivers to attend this very interesting and enlightening session where we will explore how recognising and encouraging strengths, both in ourselves and in our children, can help build confidence, resilience, positive relationships and a strong sense of identity. Registrations welcome here.

Associated and Catholic Colleges Cross Country Carnival

We wish our Junior and Senior School Associated and Catholic Colleges (ACC) Cross Country teams all the very best as they represent the Corpus Christi community on the Perry Lakes course this week. With the Junior School team competing on Wednesday and the Senior School team on Thursday, they take to the course as proud ambassadors of the College, showcasing their preparation, determination and spirit.

This marks a particularly special occasion for our Junior School students, as it is the inaugural Junior ACC event.

We acknowledge the commitment and effort of all athletes in preparing for this event, along with the dedication of our coaches, led by Head Coach Mr Reno Sinagra, who have guided and supported them throughout. We wish each student every success and know they will compete with determination, resilience and sportsmanship.

  • Congratulations to Georgina, on her outstanding recent achievement in piano performance.

Georgina has nurtured a love of music from a very young age, beginning group music lessons at just 1.5 years old before commencing private piano tuition at the age of 5. Now only 8 years old, she has already progressed to a Grade 5 piano level an impressive milestone reflecting her dedication and talent.

On 14 May 2026, Georgina performed Summer Nocturne by Catherine Rollin (AMEB Grade 4 List C) at the Fremantle Eisteddfod, a highly regarded state-wide competition known for its exceptional standard of performers. Competing in the Piano, Grade 4 (List C/D) category, Georgina was awarded Second Place an outstanding achievement.

We congratulate Georgina on this wonderful accomplishment and look forward to seeing her continued growth as a young musician.

  • Eliana W recently performed in the Grade 1 Piano section at the Fremantle Eisteddfod, competing against 22 other pianists. Although she narrowly missed third place by just one point, she gave it her all and achieved an outstanding score of 96/100, a wonderful testament to her hard work, dedication, and commitment to daily practice.

We’d Love to Celebrate Your Child’s Achievements

At Corpus Christi College, we’re proud of the many talents and passions our students pursue beyond the classroom. Whether it’s a sporting triumph, a creative milestone, or a personal best in a beloved hobby, we’d love to share and celebrate these moments with our College community.

If your child has recently achieved something special, please send us:

  1. A photo of your child engaged in their activity (where possible, without other people in the image)

  2. A short write-up of their achievement

  3. Their year level and House

We’ll feature these stories in our College e-newsletter to inspire and celebrate the diverse gifts of our students.

If you wish to share a student success story, email: enews@corpus.wa.edu.au
