Term 2 2026
Welcome to Week 10
-
Welcome to Week 10 of Term 2. As we progress toward the end of the term next week, I am pleased to highlight several recent special events and happenings at the College.
Yidarra Rising Retreat
Over the past fortnight our Year 9 students have participated in the Yidarra Rising Retreat which is part of our yearlong rites of passage program. We are working alongside Catholic Education WA in the delivery of this special program which guides students through meaningful life phases and supports them to discover and understand their unique gifts and how to use these gifts in service of others.
Across cultures and throughout history, communities have recognised the importance of rites of passage and the provision of meaningful experiences that help young people mark significant moments of change and growth. These experiences provide opportunities to reflect on values, relationships and purpose, while also preparing individuals for the responsibilities and challenges that lie ahead.
Year 9 is a particularly important stage in the student journey. It is a year in which students begin to look beyond the present and consider the kind of person they are becoming. As they approach the senior phase of their education, students are challenged to develop greater independence, resilience, self-awareness and responsibility.
Our Yidarra Rising program seeks to support this growth by creating experiences, like the recent retreat, that encourage students to step outside their comfort zones, strengthen connections with their peers, and reflect on their hopes and aspirations for the future. It of course also allows our students to see God in others and to explore their own faith and spirituality.
Congratulations to our students who invested fully in the retreat, we know that their experiences will live in their memories for many years to come. We also thank our staff for creating this very special growth opportunity for our students.
LifeLink
The College was thrilled to recently host The Archbishop’s Official Launch of the 2026 LifeLink Day for Primary Schools, bringing together students and staff from Catholic primary schools across the Archdiocese in a celebration of faith, service and community.
The occasion carried special significance, with Archbishop Timothy Costelloe reflecting that the very first LifeLink launch was held at Corpus Christi College. Students were inspired by the wisdom and encouragement of Archbishop Costelloe, Bishop Don Sproxton and Bishop Nelson Po, who shared their reflections on how every person is called to make a difference through acts of generosity, compassion and service.
This year’s theme drew inspiration from the life of St Francis of Assisi, whose example of selfless giving continues to shape the mission of LifeLink. Students were also encouraged by the words of St Teresa of Ávila: “Christ has no body now but yours”. These words served as a meaningful reminder that we are called to bring Christ’s love to life through our actions, guided by the Values of Courage, Commitment and Compassion.
A particular highlight of the morning was the student question-and-answer session, where thoughtful and engaging questions led to rich conversations about faith, vocation and the ways students can live out their calling in today’s world.
We were grateful for the opportunity to host this special gathering and to play a part in advancing the important work of LifeLink. The event reminded us that, together, we can make a meaningful difference in the lives of others.
Junior School Disco
Last week the College ran its annual Junior School Disco. This fun-filled and very special event was a great success, with students connecting with joy and enthusiasm. The theme of Rodeo Neon Night was alive and well as students dressed in their country best to dance the evening away.
Thanks to the efforts of our very dedicated Class Community Connectors, the College Hall was transformed into a vibrant rodeo spectacular, creating the perfect setting for an unforgettable evening of fun, friendship, and celebration.
A sincere thank you to our Class Community Connectors for their time, creativity and hard work in bringing this event to life. We also extend our gratitude to the Junior School teachers and staff who attended and supported the evening, helping to ensure an enjoyable and memorable experience for all students. Their commitment to building a strong sense of community and belonging is greatly appreciated.
Capital Development Update
We are pleased to provide an update on Stage 22 of the College’s Capital Development Plan, which includes the Junior School Refurbishment.
The current build program remains on schedule, with the first stage of the refurbishment due for completion towards the beginning of Term 4 this year. We will then transition to the lower junior section of the campus to complete the remaining works by the end of next year.
Significant progress has been made across multiple aspects of the project. Both the upper and lower roof structures are now nearing completion, and the structural steelwork, along with the supporting brickwork, has been finalised. Mechanical air conditioning systems are currently being installed, ensuring future learning environments will be comfortable and well-regulated.
Externally, the early stages of the outdoor pathways are underway, including connections through to Yidarra Court and surrounding learning spaces. Retaining walls that will help frame Yidarra Court and define the future pathways linking the Junior and Senior School precincts are also in progress.
Within the buildings, the reconfiguration and refurbishment of toilet facilities have commenced, and the newly installed pop-out window frames are now visible across classrooms, giving a clear indication of the design intent and the transformation taking shape. Learning spaces are continuing to evolve as works progress, bringing the overall vision closer to reality.
In parallel with the construction works, our Junior School students have been actively involved in trialling concepts for new classroom furniture that will form part of the Stage 22 build. Students have been testing a range of table sizes, chair types, configurations and surface options to support different styles of learning. This valuable feedback is helping to inform the final selections, ensuring that the new learning environments are not only contemporary in design but also practical, flexible and responsive to student needs.
It is wonderful to see the plans and concepts gradually coming to fruition as a contemporary, state-of-the-art learning environment. Thoughtfully designed to support the needs of modern learners, the refurbishment will create flexible, engaging and future-focused spaces that encourage collaboration, creativity, critical thinking and innovation. The design will provide a rich array of learning opportunities for students both within and beyond the classroom.
We understand that a build program of any sort can present inconveniences. We are therefore very appreciative of our staff, students and parent community for their ongoing support. The end result will undoubtedly be worth any temporary disruption, given the lasting positive impact it will have on student learning.
The Arts Showcase
We look forward with great anticipation for the upcoming student Dance and Music performances scheduled to take place in the Caroline Payne Theatre over the next week. These events allow our students to showcase their talents and learnings from across the semester to an enthusiastic live audience.
The showcase events include the Music Recital Evening, the Nostalgia Dance Gala being held over two nights this week and Rockfest scheduled for next week. Further details are available on the College Events page at https://www.corpus.wa.edu.au/events
Semester 1
As we near the completion of Semester 1, it has been very rewarding to see our students so wholeheartedly investing themselves in the life of the College. They continue to embrace the broad range of opportunities available to support their holistic development. Over the break, we encourage student to reflect on their efforts with a view to mapping out their continued growth journey in Semester 2. In promoting a sense of agency, we always encourage our students to self-regulate, persevere through challenges, and remain focused on their goals, knowing that consistent effort and purposeful choices are key to ongoing success.
I would also like to acknowledge the wonderful parent and caregiver engagement across our K-12 community this semester along with our dedicated staff for their continued efforts in creating such a wonderful learning environment for our students.
Best wishes and every blessing

On Wednesday 10 June, Corpus Christi College had the great privilege of hosting the Archbishop’s Primary Schools Launch of LifeLink Day for 2026, welcoming students and staff from Catholic primary schools across the Archdiocese of Perth.
In a moment of deep significance, Archbishop Timothy Costelloe reflected that the very first LifeLink launch had been held at Corpus Christi College. He described it like “coming home” which captured the spirit of the occasion, as our College once again became a gathering place for this important mission of faith, generosity, and service.
Students were blessed to hear from not only the Archbishop, but also Bishop Don Sproxton and newly appointed Bishop Nelson Po. Together, they shared powerful reflections on the meaning and impact of LifeLink, inspiring our young people to consider how they too are called to serve.
This year’s message centred on themes drawn from the Jubilee Year of St Francis of Assisi, whose life of radical generosity continues to challenge and inspire. Remembered as the poverello, or “the poor one of Assisi,” St Francis turned away from privilege to live in solidarity with the poor. His example reminds us of the heart of LifeLink’s work here in Western Australia: to support those most in need through compassionate, practical care.
As a College community named after the Body of Christ, we felt a particular connection to Archbishop Costelloe’s address, in which he recalled the words of St Teresa of Ávila: “Christ has no body now but yours.” This powerful reminder calls each of us to be Christ’s presence in the world today, through our courage, our commitment to others and our compassion.
A highlight of the day was the student question time, where young people had the unique opportunity to engage directly with the bishops. Their thoughtful questions opened up rich conversations about the inspiration behind LifeLink, as well as the personal journeys and vocations of the bishops themselves.
Corpus Christi College is deeply grateful to have hosted this special event and to work in partnership with the Archdiocese of Perth and Catholic Education Western Australia in support of LifeLink. With our inaugural Patron Day approaching in Term 3, we look forward to building on this momentum, hoping that our community’s generous efforts will continue to be inspired by LifeLink and contribute meaningfully to this vital mission.

As the weather turns colder, many members of our wider community are facing difficult circumstances. Through our annual Vinnies Winter Appeal, the College community has made a real difference in the lives of those experiencing hardship.
Over Weeks Five through Eight, both the Junior and the Senior schools banded together to donate food, clothing, personal hygiene items and money to those doing it tough. Every contribution was highly valued and will help to provide warmth, comfort and hope to those in need.
Thank you, Corpus Christi, for putting your faith into action and showing the spirit of compassion, generosity, and service that lies at the heart of our community.

Bateman Parish recently began the Adsumus Renewal Initiative on the Feast of Pentecost and has already completed its first step. While renewal is a continuous journey, the early stages invite a deeper and more intentional focus.
Step One invites us to reflect on what it truly means to belong to a parish community. Step Two, now beginning, calls each person into prayerful discernment, listening to the Holy Spirit and considering how our unique gifts can be shared to strengthen and enrich the parish family.
At Corpus Christi College, we are blessed to walk closely with our Parish as one faith community. Together, we share a common mission: to foster belonging, connection, and growth in Christ. A powerful symbol of this unity can be seen in the College library, where staff have created the Face of Christ. This image reminds us that Christ is present in every member of our community: each student, each staff member, each family.
Recognising the Face of Christ in one another is foundational to who we are. It is through this recognition that we continue to build a nurturing, faith-filled environment where all are seen, valued, and known.

Dear Parents and Caregivers,
As we prepare for the commencement of Term Three, I would like to advise families of a renewed and consistent focus on College uniform standards across Corpus Christi College.
Our uniform is a visible expression of our shared identity, values and community. It reflects more than 40 years of history, tradition and pride, and embodies our vision of being Outstanding for Others. Wearing the uniform correctly is an important way in which students demonstrate respect for themselves, for each other, and for the College.
Now that we are no longer in a transition period between uniform items, all students are to always wear the College uniform correctly at school, when travelling to and from the College, and when representing the College in public. We ask for your support in reinforcing these expectations at home. A key part of this is ensuring that when your child leaves the house each morning, they are dressed in the correct uniform committed to coming to the College ready to learn.
To support families:
A Uniform Guide is available to assist with building awareness of the required items for each year level.
A Uniform & Presentation K-12 Standards document outlines the expectations and processes the College will follow to support students who are not in the correct uniform.
Both documents can be accessed here.
To assist with preparation for Term Three, the Uniform Shop will be open for the remainder of Term Two in Weeks 10 and 11 at the following times:
Monday: 8.00am – 11.00am
Wednesday: 12.30pm – 4.00pm
Friday: 8.00am – 1.40pm
Online orders can also be placed via Flexischools.
We appreciate your partnership in ensuring all students are equipped with the correct uniform as we work together to lift standards across the College and continue to foster a strong sense of pride and belonging.
Thank you for your ongoing support.
Yours sincerely,
Patrick Woolley

It is undeniable that fidget tools (sometimes referred to as fidget toys or sensory accessories) are widely available and increasingly popular within occupational therapy practices, school settings and the wider community. With items such as pop-its, tangle puzzles, putty, chair bands, and fidget cubes readily accessible, we are seeing a growing number of students drawn to these tools across our classrooms.
At Corpus Christi College, teachers advocate for adjustments and supports that create the right conditions for each student to learn at their very best. This provides an opportunity to clarify the role of fidget tools and how they can be used most effectively in classrooms.

The Corpus Christi College Hockey Team delivered an outstanding performance at the ACC Boys Division 2 Hockey Carnival, claiming the championship title after a day of impressive teamwork and resilience.
Following four weeks of preparation, the team demonstrated strong form from the outset. After a hard-fought draw in their opening match, key tactical adjustments strengthened their structure and set the tone for the remainder of the tournament. The team produced a series of convincing performances, combining disciplined defence with creative midfield play and effective attacking finishes.
A major highlight of the day was the team’s exceptional defensive effort, not conceding a single goal across the entire carnival. Strong contributions across all areas of the field showcased the depth, skill and cohesion of the squad.
In a thrilling final against St Joseph’s, the team held their composure in a tightly contested match. A late goal secured a 1–0 victory, with players showing great determination to defend their lead and clinch the title.
Congratulations to all players on this outstanding achievement. Their teamwork, commitment and sportsmanship were exemplary, making this a well-deserved success.
We’d Love to Celebrate Your Child’s Achievements
