Welcome to Week 2

 

  • A very warm welcome back to the College for the start of another exciting term. I hope you all enjoyed a joyful Easter and a refreshing holiday break. It was wonderful to see students return last week with such enthusiasm and energy, ready to embrace the many opportunities that lie ahead.

    Parent Teacher Interviews

    We were very pleased to see so many parents and caregivers attend the Parent Teacher Interviews with their children on Monday of last week.

    Parent Teacher interviews are a valuable opportunity to strengthen the partnership between home and school in support of each child’s learning and wellbeing. These conversations provide time for parents and teachers to share insights, celebrate progress, and discuss how students are developing both academically and socially. They also allow parents and teachers to work together to set clear, achievable goals and explore practical ways learning can be reinforced at school and at home.

    We strongly encourage conversations of this type to be happening regularly between home and school and for parents to consistently access SEQTA to monitor the progress of their children and to support them with any upcoming tasks, assessments or activities.

    When families and teachers collaborate, students benefit from a consistent, aligned approach that helps them feel confident, engaged, and well supported throughout their learning journey. To this end, we warmly welcome all families to attend our next parent workshop scheduled for Thursday 21 May in the College Theatre. Entitled “Under Your Influence”, this 60-minute seminar provides parents practical guidance to support their teenagers through adolescence. Led by guest speaker and author Jade Lewis, the session equips parents with evidence-based strategies, real life insights and confidence to navigate today’s social, emotional and digital challenges.     ASPIRE Homework Club

    We continue to encourage students to take an active role in their own learning and to engage purposefully with the wide range of pathways and support structures available at the College. The start of a new term is an ideal opportunity for students to reflect on their progress, identify areas for growth, and set achievable goals for the weeks ahead.

    In support of this, students and families are reminded of our reimagined ASPIRE Homework Club, an after‑school academic support initiative designed to help students establish effective study routines, build confidence, and access targeted assistance across a range of subject areas.

    ASPIRE provides a calm, structured, and well‑supervised environment where students can complete homework, receive support with assessments, revisit key concepts, and consolidate core skills. The program is intentionally flexible, welcoming students who attend regularly as well as those who require additional support during peak assessment periods. Available to students in Years 7 to 12, ASPIRE offers small‑group support, and guidance from experienced staff and recent graduates, all aimed at helping students feel confident and capable in their academic work.     ANZAC Day Commemoration Ceremony

    On Friday, our College community gathered to pause and reflect as we honoured all Australians who have served, and who continue to serve, in conflicts around the world. Our ANZAC Day Commemoration Ceremony provided a meaningful opportunity to acknowledge the sacrifices made and the enduring impact of war.

    We prayed for peace in our world, mindful of the profound loss and suffering caused by conflict. In reflecting on the legacy of the ANZACs, we were reminded of the values they lived by service, courage, and respect and were called to uphold these through standing against injustice, showing compassion, and working for peace in our daily lives.

    In keeping with the spirit of Corpus Christi College and the Easter season, we also gathered in hope and gratitude as we celebrated the resurrection of Jesus and the message of new life and peace it brings. We remember with respect the courage and commitment of those who served to protect the freedoms we enjoy today.

    As we honour their legacy, we are reminded of our shared responsibility to value peace, show gratitude, and continue to build a community grounded in compassion, respect, and harmony.

    We were thrilled to have three generations of the Collin’s family participate in the Ceremony, together laying a wreath as a mark of respect and remembrance. Year 12 student William Collins was joined by his father Mr Peter Collins and his Grandfather Mr Leigh Collins, both of whom have had extensive careers in the Australian Defence Force. We thank them for their contribution to this special ceremony.

    Upcoming Events

     We wish the cast and crew of Shrek the Musical all of the best for their upcoming performance season with the Opening Night scheduled for this Thursday. The students and staff have dedicated many months of tireless efforts to prepare this very special show, and we are very much looking forward to their performances.

    Other key upcoming events are as follows:

    • Monday 4 May – Year 6 camp departs

    • Friday 8 May – Mothers’ Day Breakfast from 7.45am, followed by Year 7 Parent Connect opportunity

    • Monday 11 May - Careers Week

  • A Coffee van will be available on Tuesday mornings outside the OSH Club near the Junior School Car Park.

  • Our much-loved Scholastic Book Fair is back this May, coinciding with Scholastic National Reading Month. It is a wonderful opportunity to celebrate a love of reading across our community.

    The Book Fair will be held on Wednesday 6&7 May in the Junior Undercover area and will be open both before and after school.

    Opening times

    • Morning: 8.00am to 9.00am

    • Afternoon: 2.30pm to 3.30pm
      Students and families are invited to browse a wide range of books suitable for all ages. This event is always well supported by our community and every purchase helps support reading resources at the College.

    Payment options
    EFTPOS facilities will be available. Cash is also accepted for students who may have pocket money.

    This year the Book Fair aligns with Scholastic National Reading Month and the College is also registered for National Simultaneous Storytime on 27 May, making it a special month-long celebration of reading and storytelling.

    We encourage families to come along and support this popular event.

 

  • As we prepare for the cooler months, families are reminded that Term 2 marks the transition to the full Winter Uniform for all students.

    A two‑week transition period from Summer to Winter Uniform has been approved:

    • Wednesday 22 April – Friday 1 May:
      Students may wear either the full Summer or the full Winter Uniform.
      Please ensure students are wearing one complete uniform during this time, with no mixing of Summer and Winter items.

    • From Monday 4 May (Term 2, Week 3):
      All students are expected to be in the full Winter Uniform.

    Jumpers & Track Pants

    The Uniform Shop has now restocked all track pants and jumpers. Please note that all sizes are available except Size 18.

  • As part of our commitment to environmental stewardship and in partnership with the Friends of Corpus, we encourage families to participate in our Uniform Recycling Program. Gently used uniforms can be donated to support sustainability and help other families in our community. Information is detailed below.

    Let’s work together to reduce waste and support one another. Thank you for being part of this initiative.

  • We are pleased to share an update on the capital development in our Junior School, with works now well underway and progressing as planned.

    Since site possession in January, early demolition, site establishment and temporary pathways have been completed to support safe movement across campus while construction continues.

    As part of these early works, the Junior School time capsule has been carefully retrieved and securely stored for safekeeping, preserving an important piece of our College history for the future.

    During the holidays, activity on site gradually increased as structural works and inground services commenced. 

    Detailed planning is also continuing across mechanical, electrical and landscape elements to ensure the new facilities are contemporary, functional and well suited to the learning needs of our youngest students.

    We recognise that families may have questions when construction is underway and would like to reassure parents that student safety and learning remain our highest priorities throughout the project. 

    All works are carefully staged and construction zones are clearly separated from student areas. Classrooms continue to operate as normal and there are no changes to Junior School routines, timetables or learning programs as a result of these works.

    Where activities may be noisy or have the potential to impact nearby areas, timing is planned thoughtfully to minimise disruption to teaching and learning. The College works closely with the project team to manage these periods effectively and any short term impacts will be communicated to families in advance where required.

    This Junior School development represents a significant investment in high quality learning environments that support curiosity, creativity and connection. 

    Practical completion is planned for September/October 2026 and we look forward to sharing further updates as this exciting project continues to take shape.

  • As a result of a recent assessment initiated by the Traffic Wardens on Murdoch Drive, Transperth has introduced an additional "school day only" route 510 service to assist with managing the afternoon peak demand.

    The additional service has been scheduled to supplement the existing Route 510 service, Stop 19959 located western verge of Murdoch Drive opposite the College and to improve capacity of students travelling home after school.

    From the start of Term 2 Wednesday 22 April 2026, the additional service will operate with the following approximate timings:

    • Depart Murdoch Station at 3:13pm

    • Pass Corpus Christi College on Murdoch Drive at approximately 3:20pm

    • Arrive at Booragoon Bus Station at approximately 3:34pm

    This means the first bus will arrive around 3:20pm and the second bus around 3:25pm.

  • Year 7 2029 Entry

    The College is currently welcoming enrolment applications for entry into Year 7, 2029.  

    Families with children currently attending other schools, and who are interested in seeking a place for Year 7, 2029,  are encouraged to submit an enrolment application at their earliest convenience. 

    Kindergarten 2029 Entry

    Families with children who are eligible to commence Kindergarten in 2029 are welcomed to lodge an enrolment application at their earliest convenience. 

    Sibling Enrolments

    The Enrolments Team would like to remind families that an enrolment application is required for all siblings seeking entry into any year group. We encourage families to submit these applications promptly to ensure they are included in the enrolment process.   • Corpus Christi College has been honoured to be selected as a host site for the Migrant Jubilee Cross, a national Catholic symbol created for the Jubilee Year 2025.

    As part of a year‑long pilgrimage across Australia, the Cross is visiting dioceses, parishes and Catholic schools to honour the faith, courage and contributions of migrant and refugee communities. Its journey reflects the many stories of hope and resilience that continue to shape the Catholic Church.

    To mark its visit, students and staff from Years 4–12 will gather for a Welcoming Liturgy, bringing our community together in prayer and reflection.

    The Migrant Jubilee Cross is a visible sign of the Church’s gratitude for the witness of migrant and refugee families who have carried their faith across borders and generations. It speaks to themes of journey, hope, belonging and compassion, reminding us that migration has long been part of the Christian story.

    Within our own College community, many families have rich and diverse migration stories. This liturgy provides a meaningful opportunity to:

    • honour the journeys and sacrifices of those who have come before us

    • celebrate the cultural and spiritual diversity that shapes Corpus Christi College

    • reflect on our shared call to welcome, accompany and stand in solidarity with others

 
 

  • From Monday 4 May (Term 2, Week 3):
    All students are expected to be in the full Winter Uniform.

    We kindly remind families that wearing the College uniform with pride is an important part of who we are at Corpus Christi. All students are expected to follow the current Uniform Guidelines, ensuring we continue to present ourselves with excellence in our community. You can view the full guidelines here: Link here.

  • As pick‑up and drop‑off times are especially busy across our K–12 campus, we kindly remind all families to drive slowly, patiently, and with extreme care while on College grounds. Ensuring the safety of our students, staff, and families is vital, and we appreciate everyone working together to maintain a calm and safe environment during these high‑traffic periods. Thank you for your cooperation and commitment to keeping our community safe.

    We remind families that the parking between the Senior and Junior Campus is reserved for Staff.

 

  • Aspire is the continuation of our Homework Club, providing students with a quiet, supervised after‑school space to complete homework, revise and seek academic support.

    The program runs Monday to Thursday in Term 1 and offers assistance across Mathematics, Science, Humanities, English, Religion and Life and general study skills. Support is provided by staff and recent graduates.

    Students who previously attended Homework Club are encouraged to continue attending Aspire It is the same program with the same purpose, now under a new name.

  • Corpus Christi College offers a Learn to Swim Program onsite at the Jennifer Reilly Aquatic Centre. The aquatic centre features a covered and heated 25 metre, eight-lane indoor lap and water polo pool, a separate 12 metre learn-to-swim pool and terrace seating for 180 people. Our Learn to Swim Program is facilitated by Speed With Style, a company who provide a unique approach to swim teaching called Individualised Custom Teaching, which was developed by Dr Nigel Williams in collaboration with head coach and Speed with Style Founder - John Williams.

    The Learn to Swim program is available to both Corpus Christi College students and those external to the College.

  • Canning City Soccer Club is currently welcoming new players for the upcoming season, which kicks off on 26 April. They are seeking girls born between 2011 and 2014 to join their JCL Community League teams.

    A local, community-focused environment with a strong emphasis on participation, development, and building confidence through sport.

  • The College extends its sincere thanks to the Brentwood Booragoon Junior Football Club for their continued support of our extensive co-curricular program. We are grateful for their generosity in sharing their time and expertise to once again deliver a highly successful AFL clinic for our students. This partnership remains one of the most popular offerings at the College, giving students the opportunity to build new skills, grow in confidence and, most importantly, stay active while enjoying a fun and supportive environment.

 
 

  • Corpus Christi College is proud to celebrate the outstanding achievement of Anastacia Kirby (Year 11), who has been named a State Finalist in the 2026 Lions Youth of the Year Competition.

    Anastacia recently competed in the District Final held in Duncraig on Saturday 28 March, where she delivered an impressive performance in the public speaking component, competing against strong representatives from schools including Hale and Iona. Her poise, clarity and confidence saw her selected to progress to the State Final, earning her a place in the State Final, to be held in Fremantle on Sunday 3 May. From there, successful candidates may progress to the National Final.

    This achievement is especially significant given Anastacia’s longstanding commitment to the Public Speaking program at Corpus Christi College. Her dedication and leadership were recognised this year through her appointment as Public Speaking Captain, a role in which she continues to model excellence and encourage others.

    Anastacia was joined in the competition by Charlotte Dempsey (Year 11), who also progressed to the District Final and impressed adjudicators with her professionalism and skill. In addition, Jeffrey Sackey competed at district level, while Audrey Budiono and Helena Han represented the College in the heats. Each student competed with Courage, Commitment and Compassion, representing Corpus Christi College with pride.

    We congratulate Anastacia on this exceptional milestone and commend all students involved for their dedication to personal growth, leadership and public speaking excellence. We wish Anastacia every success as she prepares to compete at the State Final.

  • Congratulations to Jordan on an outstanding performance at the Junior State Swimming Championships, representing Multi Class swimming for the first time at state level.

    Across two days of competition, Jordan delivered an exceptional series of results, recording personal bests in every event and showing great determination and composure on the state stage.

    On Day 1, Jordan achieved:

    • Silver medal in the 50m Freestyle Multiclass, with a one‑second personal best on his entry time

    • Silver medal in the 50m Breaststroke Multiclass, with an impressive four‑second personal best

    Jordan continued his strong form on Day 2, producing another remarkable performance:

    • Gold medal in the 50m Backstroke Multiclass, with a personal best

    • Gold medal in the 50m Butterfly Multiclass, with a personal best of more than four seconds

    Jordan’s results across the championships reflect his hard work, commitment and resilience, as well as his ability to rise to the challenge at the highest level of competition.

    We are incredibly proud of Jordan’s achievements and congratulate him on representing himself and the College with distinction.

  • Corpus Christi College is proud to celebrate the outstanding achievements of Seb McGuiggan and Amelia McIvor, who recently competed against the country’s very best in the 2026 Swimming Australia Age Championships on the Gold Coast in April. Taking on the nation’s top swimmers, both students demonstrated exceptional commitment, resilience, and talent on the national stage.

    Making her debut at just 13 years of age, Amelia embraced the challenge of her first national championships with determination. She competed in two demanding events—the 400m Individual Medley and the 200m Breaststroke—delivering a strong performance against elite competition. As the premier event on the age-group calendar, the championships provided Amelia with valuable national-level racing experience, along with important lessons and clear opportunities for growth as she looks ahead to future national-level training pathways.

    For Seb, this marked his second appearance at the national championships, and he delivered an impressive campaign across four events this year: 50m Breaststroke, 50m Butterfly, 100m Breaststroke, and 100m Butterfly. Seb achieved a standout result in the 50m Butterfly, qualifying in the top 20 and progressing to the finals, where he recorded an excellent time of 25.61 seconds. His performance has secured him qualifying times for the upcoming Commonwealth Games Trials in both the 50m Butterfly and 50m Breaststroke—an outstanding achievement at this level. Seb’s continued progress reflects the experience and confidence gained from competing at the highest level, and he now looks ahead with excitement to racing against Australia’s best at the trials in Sydney, this June.

    These achievements are a testament to the dedication and hard work of both swimmers, and the College community looks forward to following their continued success in the pool.
