Term 2 2026

Welcome to Week 4

  • Alignment

In the last edition of E-News, I wrote about the importance of parents and teachers working in partnership to set clear, achievable goals for students and to explore practical ways learning can be reinforced between home and school. This shared approach is central to supporting young people as they navigate the challenges of adolescence.

In support of this important alignment of messaging and action, we are pleased to welcome another highly regarded pastoral care expert who will be working with our Year 9 students this week, followed by a parent workshop next week. Parents and caregivers who attend the workshop will gain first‑hand insight into the key concepts and learning their sons and daughters have experienced as part of the school‑based program. This shared understanding helps build consistency between home and school and encourages meaningful, informed conversations that support students’ wellbeing and development.

Led by Jade Lewis, this term’s workshop, Under YOUR Influence, explores the complexities of parenting teenagers through adolescence. Jade is a recognised expert in this field, holding a Master’s degree in Criminology with a focus on youth and families. For more than 20 years, she has worked with schools across Australia, supporting young people to navigate challenges and make positive choices. As a best‑selling author, Jade brings a powerful blend of research‑based knowledge, lived experience and practical insight to her work.

The presentation examines five key pillars - Connection, Prevention, Early Intervention, Treatment and Transition - to help parents navigate the social, emotional and digital challenges facing young people today. Topics include understanding the teenage brain, setting healthy boundaries, developing digital and emotional intelligence, fostering community and identity, and building long‑term resilience. Parents leave with practical, actionable strategies and renewed confidence for the long game of raising teenagers.

This session follows last term’s highly successful parent workshop, led by presenter Daniel Principe, where families were supported with tools and strategies to better understand the challenges facing young people today. Together, these opportunities reinforce our shared commitment to working collaboratively in the best interests of our students.

We strongly encourage all parents and caregivers to attend Jade Lewis’ free workshop on Thursday 21 May 2026, from 6.30pm to 8.00pm in the Caroline Payne Theatre. While Year 9 families are particularly encouraged to attend, the workshop is open to all parents of adolescent children. Bookings are available via the College website here.

Celebrating an Outstanding Production: Shrek the Musical

The College is thrilled to celebrate the enormous success of Shrek the Musical, a production that brought joy, laughter and a real sense of community to all who attended. The performances were highly professional, entertaining and full of heart - so much so that it was hard to believe this was a student production. Our students should be incredibly proud of what they achieved.

With students involved from Years 4 to 12, the production reflected nearly nine months of dedication, planning and rehearsal. Across four sold‑out shows and two full dress rehearsals, the cast and crew delivered six outstanding performances in just five days, delighting audiences of well in excess of 2,000 people.

This production highlighted the vital role of The Arts in education. Through theatre, students develop confidence, teamwork, discipline and creativity, while also discovering new strengths and pathways for the future. The learning that occurred after each performance, the mentoring between students, and the leadership opportunities that emerged were deeply formative for all involved.

None of this would have been possible without the extraordinary commitment of our staff, who created an environment where students could shine, support one another and grow together. We thank them for providing such a positive, nurturing and purposeful experience that challenged students to perform at their very best, while fostering a deep sense of camaraderie and belonging that made this experience truly special.

We also extend our sincere thanks to parents and families for their generous support, time and encouragement throughout the journey, which played a vital role in the success of the production.

Congratulations to everyone involved in Shrek the Musical. It was a joyful, inspiring achievement and a wonderful celebration of the talent, teamwork and spirit of our College community.

    Year 6 Camp

Last week, our Year 6 students embarked on their camp at Forest Edge in Waroona. From adventurous outdoor activities to engaging problem-solving challenges, the experience offered countless opportunities for students to step beyond their comfort zones and discover new strengths. Whether working together in team-based tasks or showing perseverance in unfamiliar situations, students demonstrated resilience, courage, and a willingness to embrace new experiences.

A highlight of the camp was the strong emphasis on teamwork and community building, culminating in a special outdoor evening liturgy prepared by Mr Overton. We extend our sincere thanks to our dedicated staff, whose support and encouragement over the three days created meaningful experiences filled with laughter and connection. These shared moments have helped foster a strong sense of community and belonging that will continue to support our Year 6 cohort throughout the year.

    New Competitive Sports Uniforms

We are delighted to announce the arrival of our new competitive sports uniforms, which will be worn across all College sporting teams. Modern, fresh and unmistakably reflective of our Corpus spirit, the new designs capture both who we are and what we stand for. They evoke a strong sense of pride and belonging, and we look forward to seeing our students wear the new kits as they take to the sporting arena throughout this term.

The uniforms are the result of considerable time, effort and collaboration, with valuable input from both staff and students shaping designs that are unique and meaningful. They celebrate our rich and illustrious sporting history, while also looking forward with energy, optimism and excitement. We thank everyone involved for their contribution to the design and delivery of our competitive sports uniforms that our community can wear with pride and confidence.

    Careers Week

This week, the College is focusing on Careers Week, which includes the launch of this year’s Own Your Own Path Careers Expo, being held at the College today. This special week, and the events that form part of it, are designed to prompt conversation, curiosity and connection with experts, allowing students to explore a wide range of possible future pathways and interests.

Students are encouraged to explore options, seek advice and engage in meaningful conversations as they begin to consider their next steps. Exposure to different tertiary pathways, industries, training options and lived experiences helps students make informed decisions and build confidence in owning their own journey.

We are privileged to have an expert Pathways team at the College who are always available to speak with students across all year levels about future options, opportunities and goals. We are also most fortunate to have a generous alumni community who willingly share their experiences with our students, offering encouragement, motivation and practical insight. Some of their stories are available here. Together, this collective support helps students broaden their thinking, feel supported in their choices, and approach the future with confidence and optimism.

  • We are delighted to share some fantastic sporting news from our community. One of our students is part of a baseball team that has recently been crowned State Champions, an outstanding achievement reflecting dedication, teamwork and skill.

Following this success, the team has now been selected to represent Western Australia at the National Championships, to be held in Sydney this June. This is a remarkable opportunity and a well‑deserved reward for their hard work throughout the season.

We congratulate the entire team and coaching staff on this achievement and wish them every success as they compete on the national stage. Go WA!

  • Year 12 Sport Captain Isla Emmerson has had an outstanding and action‑packed start to 2026, showcasing her talent on the national lacrosse stage.

In March, Isla represented Western Australia at the Australian National Senior Box Lacrosse Championships in Victoria. WA progressed to the Grand Final, finishing runners‑up after a hard‑fought match against Victoria. Isla was a standout throughout the tournament, finishing as WA’s top scorer and earning selection in the Australian All Star team.

Isla continued her impressive form in April, again representing WA at the Australian National Under 18 Championships, hosted here in Perth. Competing against strong opposition from across the country, WA reached the Grand Final for a second consecutive national event, narrowly losing to South Australia. Isla’s performances once again caught the attention of selectors, with her being named an Australian All Star for the second time this year.

Adding to an exceptional year, Isla has also committed to study and play Division 1 lacrosse in the United States in 2027, competing with Queens University of Charlotte. This is a remarkable achievement and a testament to her dedication, leadership and consistent excellence in her sport.

We congratulate Isla on her outstanding success and look forward to following her continued journey on the international stage.

From 1 to 6 April 2026, Lennox travelled to Adelaide to compete in the Adelaide Easter Classics, a premier junior basketball tournament that attracts strong competition from across the country.

Representing Western Australia’s Scorpion Basketball Academy Club, Lennox and his Under 14 teammates played five games between 3 and 5 April, finishing the round matches undefeated. This exceptional result qualified the team for the Grand Final, held on Monday 6 April.

The Grand Final was a high‑pressure, fast‑paced contest that showcased the skill and determination of both sides. After an intense battle, the match was decided in overtime, with Lennox and his teammates holding their nerve to emerge victorious, claiming the Boys Under 14 Division Championship.

This tournament win is a fantastic achievement for Lennox and a testament to his commitment, teamwork and resilience on the court. We congratulate Lennox on his success and look forward to following his continued development in basketball.

  • Year 9 student Ava McNelis recently achieved a significant milestone in her football journey, representing Western Australia at the Emerging Matildas Championships in Melbourne.

After trialling for the Football West Academy and Emerging Matildas program in October 2025, Ava was accepted into the academy and in March 2026, was selected as a member of the Western Australian state team.

The Emerging Matildas Championships were held from 9 to 15 April 2026 at the Home of the Matildas Stadium in Melbourne, bringing together talented young footballers from across the country. Competing at a national level, Ava gained valuable experience and demonstrated her skill, dedication and commitment to the game.

Representing her state in such a prestigious competition is an outstanding achievement and highlights Ava’s hard work and potential within the sport.

The team performed exceptionally well, progressing to the quarter finals and holding their own in a highly competitive match against the Chinese Taipei National Squad. Their performance was a testament to both skill and resilience on the international stage.

This was an outstanding achievement for both students and an exciting opportunity to compete in lacrosse, now recognised as an Olympic sport. We congratulate Callan and Zander on their success and look forward to watching their continued growth in the sport.

A special congratulations goes to Hudson L., who delivered an exceptional performance to be crowned Year 5 Boys Age Champion. This was a fantastic achievement by all students, who represented the College with courage, commitment and compassion.
