Outstanding for Others
As you would be aware, we have the Vision at our College to be Outstanding for Others. It is something we strive toward every day as we seek to use our God-given talents in service of others. Being Outstanding for Others is about more than personal success or achievement; it is about how we use our gifts to make a positive difference in the lives of those around us. It calls us to be courageous, compassionate and committed in the way we learn, lead, build relationships and contribute to our community.
To be Outstanding for Others means recognising the dignity and value of every person, fostering a genuine sense of belonging, and responding to the needs of others with empathy and care. It challenges us to look beyond ourselves and consider how our actions can help others flourish. As a community inspired by the example of Jesus, we are called to accompany one another, celebrate each person's unique strengths, and work together to create a culture of hope, service and inclusion.
In being Outstanding for Others, we challenge the status quo and seek to cultivate the world Jesus envisaged. We are called to be countercultural by standing up for what is right, championing justice, and placing service before self. As compassionate people, we stand firm in the knowledge that we are authentically giving witness to our values through both our words and our actions.
Over the past few weeks, we have seen our community being genuinely Outstanding for Others through their actions, courageously stepping outside of their comfort zone to support those around them. Most recently, this was evidenced at our Vinnies Winter Sleep Out where around 70 students and six staff braved a wet and windy Friday night last week to raise over $15,000 to support those experiencing homelessness.
Beyond raising awareness and gathering essential funds for programs aiding those experiencing homelessness and poverty, the Winter Sleepout experience, according to Vinnies, “fosters a deeper understanding among students and teachers about the challenges faced by those experiencing homelessness. On any given night, 122,494 people in Australia are experiencing homelessness (ABS Census 2021). Homelessness is frequently misunderstood by the broader community, but by uniting, we can champion change and positively impact the lives of those in need.”
Homelessness, again according to Vinnies, “is a growing problem with more and more people turning to Vinnies for help. The Vinnies School Sleepout encourages students to raise awareness by talking to family and friends about homelessness and how we can each make a difference.”
We therefore acknowledge the amazing efforts of our students and staff in bringing increased awareness, understanding and much needed dollars to support Vinnie’s efforts in caring for those experiencing homelessness.
This remarkable achievement from students follows on from other key initiatives that they have been involved in where they have been Outstanding for Others. I recently highlighted the efforts of our Year 12 students involved in the Leukaemia Foundation’s World’s Greatest Shave where they raised over $15,000 and awareness for this very important cause.
In addition, our students have been raising funds for LifeLink, demonstrating their commitment to supporting some of the most vulnerable members of our wider community. LifeLink, as outlined during the launch of the 2026 LifeLink Day at the College, provides vital funding to Catholic agencies and programs that assist individuals and families facing hardship, including those experiencing homelessness, mental health challenges and family crisis. Our students have also been very proactive in raising funds for Project Compassion this year with the monies raised exceeding $12,000.
Similarly, our community's support of the Vinnies Winter Appeal has highlighted the spirit of generosity that exists across the College. At the end of last term, we were very pleased to donate three car loads of items to the Bateman Chapter of the St Vincient DePaul Society in support of individuals and families experiencing hardship during the colder months. We also acknowledge the work of our Vinnies and Mini Vinnies student leaders for their continued efforts in promoting initiatives designed to help others. Through these acts, our students are learning that being Outstanding for Others is not simply a statement of intent, but a way of living that has a genuine and positive impact on the lives of those around us.
Our commitment to service has also been evident through the College's ongoing partnership with St Patrick's Community Support Centre in Fremantle. Students and staff generously give of their time to prepare meals for those experiencing hardship, providing not only nourishment but also a tangible sign of care and dignity. They reflect the Gospel call to be present to others and to place our faith into action through service. We are looking forward to our upcoming Friends of Corpus evening scheduled for 6.30pm Wednesday 26 August where parents, caregivers and friends will have the opportunity to join the College Ministry Team in cooking meals for St Patrick’s. What is most encouraging is that these initiatives are not isolated acts – rather they provide a snapshot of a community that lives its Vison and looks outwards to others, painting a picture of a school that is living its Values. They demonstrate our desire to be courageous in responding to challenging social issues, compassionate in recognising the dignity of every person, and committed to making a difference where we can.
As a Catholic community, we are called to be the hands and feet of Christ in the world. When our students choose to serve others, advocate for those on the margins and contribute to causes that promote human dignity, they are giving authentic witness to our College Vision.
We are reminded by one of our House Patron’s, Saint Mary MacKillop, whose Feast Day was celebrated on Saturday, that we “find happiness in making others happy”. Mary believed it was in giving of ourselves in service to others, through practical acts of kindness and compassion, that we find true happiness.
I thank our students, staff and families for the many ways they continue to live our Vision of being Outstanding for Others. Through your generosity, compassion and commitment, you are helping to cultivate the world that Jesus envisaged and ensuring that our College remains a community where faith is made visible through action.

Dear Parents and Guardians
Next week, we look forward to celebrating Children’s Book Week 2026, with this year’s theme “Symphony of Stories”. The theme celebrates the harmony that stories create by bringing together imagination, creativity, and diverse voices. Just as each instrument contributes to a beautiful symphony, every story has the power to inspire, connect, and enrich our understanding of the world around us.
Throughout this week and next, students will have the opportunity to celebrate the joy of reading, discover new stories and authors, and express their love of literature through our annual Book Week Parade. Together, we look forward to creating a memorable celebration that fosters a lifelong love of books and reminds us that every story has a unique role in our collective journey.
This week also marks an important milestone for our Year 6 students as they begin their preparation journey towards the Sacrament of Confirmation. Through prayer, reflection, and learning, they will deepen their understanding of the gifts of the Holy Spirit and their call to live as active disciples of Christ. We keep our Year 6 students and their families in our prayers as they take this meaningful step in their faith journey. As Pope Leo XIV recently reminded young people, “Friendship with Christ, which lies at the heart of faith, is not just one help among many to build the future, it is our guiding star.”
Last week, we celebrated Languages Week and the many opportunities our students have to engage with the Italian language and culture. A sincere thank you to Mr Hester for the passion, creativity, and dedication he brings to his teaching. Through engaging activities and meaningful learning experiences, he makes learning Italian both enjoyable and memorable for our students, inspiring curiosity and confidence in language learning.
This week, we turn our attention to Science Week, with Ms Scarterfield preparing a range of exciting investigations, experiments, and discovery-based learning opportunities for our students. We are incredibly fortunate to have such enthusiastic and talented specialist teachers who foster a love of learning and encourage students to explore the world with curiosity, wonder, and a growth mindset. Their commitment enriches our community and helps create learning experiences that students will remember long after they leave the classroom.

To celebrate National Science Week in Week 4, Junior School students are invited to take part in an exciting Science Challenge Competition.
This optional, extra-curricular challenge encourages students to think creatively, investigate scientific ideas and put their problem-solving skills to the test. Students may enter individually or work in pairs, with pairs sharing any prize awarded.
🏆 Prizes will be awarded to winners and runners-up across each year group category, with winners announced in Week 5.
Throughout the week, students will also enjoy a range of hands-on science experiences during their regular Science lessons, inspired by this year's National Science Week theme, Seeds of Science: Nurturing Knowledge for All.
We look forward to seeing the creativity, curiosity and innovation of our young scientists as they embrace the spirit of discovery and celebrate Science Week.

The 2026 Senior School Inter-House Athletics Carnival was a fantastic celebration of athletic excellence, determination and House spirit, with students producing outstanding performances across track and field events.
Congratulations to De Vialar House, who claimed the title of 2026 Senior Inter-House Athletics Champions, and to Merici House, recipients of the Corpus Porpoise Award for exemplifying the values of Courage, Commitment and Compassion throughout the carnival.
Several College records were also broken, including two by Year 7 student Carter Trickett, while a number of athletes were recognised as Year Group Champions and Runners-Up for their exceptional performances.
With just 376 points separating the top three Houses, competition was fierce and the carnival showcased the depth of talent, participation and House pride across the College.

Pre-Kindergarten 2028
Families with a child who will turn three years of age in 2028 are invited to register their interest in our 3-Year-Old Pre-Kindergarten program.

Year 7 2029 Entry
The College is currently welcoming enrolment applications for entry into Year 7 2029.
Families with children currently attending other schools, and who are interested in seeking a place for Year 7 2029, are encouraged to submit an enrolment application at their earliest convenience.
Kindergarten 2029 Entry
Families with children who are eligible to commence Kindergarten in 2029 are welcome to lodge an enrolment application at their earliest convenience.

The Enrolments Team would like to remind families that an enrolment application is required for all siblings seeking entry into any year group. We encourage families to submit these applications promptly to ensure they are included in the enrolment process. As part of our commitment to environmental stewardship and in partnership with the Friends of Corpus, we encourage families to participate in our Uniform Recycling Program. Gently used uniforms can be donated to support sustainability and help other families in our community. Information is detailed below.

College Photo Days will be held from Wednesday 2 September to Friday 4 September 2026.
Students are reminded to wear their full winter uniform, including correct grooming and presentation, for their scheduled photo day.
Further information, including ordering details and forms, will be sent home in Week 5.

As we prepare for the return to summer uniform in Term 4, the Uniform Shop will hold two walk-in opening days during the October school holidays to assist families with any uniform purchases before the start of term.

Term 4 commences for all students on Monday 12 October, with the Uniform Shop returning to its usual term-time opening hours from this date.

The annual Vinnies Winter Sleepout was held on Friday 7 August, with 70 students from Years 10 to 12 braving the cold by spending a night at the College armed only with sleeping bags and cardboard boxes. This powerful experience provided students with an opportunity to stand in solidarity with those experiencing homelessness and to develop a deeper understanding of the realities faced by more than 122,500 Australians who are homeless on any given night, particularly during the winter months. We would appreciate any further donations to support our fundraising efforts through this fundraising link. We are immensely grateful for the enthusiasm, generosity and commitment demonstrated by students, staff and families in making this event such a success.

On Tuesday, a group of Corpus Christi College students had the privilege of visiting the St Carlo Acutis Relics and Exhibition at the Chapel of St Michael the Archangel at CEWA.
During our visit, we heard from Kate from Friends of St Carlo Acutis Australia, who shared the inspiring story of this remarkable young saint. Although Carlo did not grow up in an especially religious family, he developed a profound faith, a deep love for the Eucharist, and a desire to use his God-given gifts in service of others. His compassion for the poor and his creation of a website documenting Eucharistic miracles continue to inspire young people around the world.
Our students demonstrated great reverence as they venerated the relic of St Carlo on display, a piece of his pericardium, the tissue that protects the heart. This powerful experience invited us to reflect on how a life centred on the Eucharist can also protect our own hearts, helping us to grow in faith, courage, and holiness.
As Corpus Christi people, we are reminded that our identity is in the Eucharist, the Body of Christ. Carlo's example challenges us to place Jesus at the centre of our lives and to use our talents to serve others and share the Gospel in the modern world.

Corpus students are invited to put their best foot forward for a great cause by taking part in our Crocs, Socks & Birkenstocks for LifeLink Fundraiser.
On this special fundraising day, students can swap their regular school shoes for their favourite pair of Crocs or Birkenstocks, complete with socks, while wearing their House Uniform. A gold coin donation is requested, with all proceeds supporting the important work of LifeLink, which provides vital assistance to people and families in need throughout our community.
This fun initiative is an opportunity for students to express their House spirit while making a meaningful contribution to those facing hardship. Every donation, no matter how small, helps LifeLink continue its mission of bringing hope, care and support to vulnerable members of our community.
Students are encouraged to embrace the fun of the day, whether that means colourful Crocs, classic Birkenstocks, bright socks, or a combination of all three. Together, we can make a difference while celebrating our commitment to service and social justice.
Donations will be collected by Classroom Teachers in Junior School and Homeroom Teachers in Senior School.
Important Safety Reminder: Students participating in practical Senior School subjects, including Food Technology/Cooking, Physical Education, Science, and Design & Technology, must bring appropriate enclosed footwear to change into for these lessons in accordance with safety requirements.

As part of the Adsumus journey, Bateman Parish has introduced short Mass presentations from ministry leaders. These moments offer parishioners a valuable insight into the many groups and ministries that bring life to the Parish. They also highlight the generous commitment of so many who give their time and gifts in service of others.
At Corpus Christi College, we witness this same spirit of renewal in our students. Through their involvement in liturgy, service, leadership, and community life, our students contribute richly to the vitality of the College and the Parish. They bring energy, creativity, and hope, continually shaping our shared future.
In stepping forward with courage and generosity, our student leaders remind us that “service is love in action.” Together, as Parish and College, we are building a community grounded in faith, inspired by the Holy Spirit, and committed to living Christ’s love each day.

The Corpus Christi College community has once again demonstrated the power of Courage, Commitment and Compassion, raising an incredible $15,251 through this year’s World’s Greatest Shave.
Students and staff embraced the challenge with enthusiasm, with participants stepping forward to shave or cut their hair in support of Australians living with blood cancer. The result was not only a series of fresh new looks across the College, but a remarkable fundraising effort that will make a real difference to families facing some of life’s toughest challenges.
Representatives from the Leukaemia Foundation praised the achievement, describing the fundraising total as an outstanding result and expressing their gratitude to every student, staff member and family who contributed.
To put the achievement into perspective, the funds raised by Corpus Christi College could provide a regional family with a home-away-from-home for more than six months while receiving life-saving treatment in a major city.
In addition to the fundraising effort, students also donated their hair, which will be provided to Sustainable Salons as part of the World’s Greatest Shave initiative. The donated hair will be repurposed to support environmentally sustainable programs and community initiatives.
The Leukaemia Foundation was so impressed by the College’s efforts that it has offered to provide certificates of appreciation for participants and assist with a special presentation to recognise the students involved.
This outstanding result reflects the generosity and community spirit that are hallmarks of Corpus Christi College. Through their willingness to give, students have not only raised vital funds but have also brought hope and practical support to Australians affected by blood cancer.
Congratulations to all involved for making such a meaningful impact. Your commitment to helping others is a powerful reminder that together, even small acts of generosity can create lasting change.

Corpus Christi College will be offering Certificate III pathways in Dance and Music, designed for students who are passionate about the performing arts and wish to further develop their skills, creativity and industry knowledge while completing their WACE.
These nationally recognised qualifications are delivered over two years (Years 11 and 12) and provide students with the opportunity to engage in practical, hands-on learning experiences that reflect real-world creative industries.
Current Year 10 students can select these courses as part of their course counselling discussions happening currently. Year 9 students may wish to keep these courses in mind for their future study. These new pathways reflect our commitment to providing diverse and meaningful learning opportunities for students, supporting both academic and creative futures.

Corpus Christi College invites parents and carers to an informative and engaging presentation with Paul Dillon, one of Australia’s leading experts in youth drug and alcohol education.
This evidence-based session will explore the realities of teen socialising, parties, alcohol use and vaping, providing practical strategies to help parents navigate challenging conversations with confidence. Paul will share the latest research, dispel common myths, and offer practical advice to help families support young people in making safe and informed choices.
Open to both Corpus Christi College families and the wider community, this is a valuable opportunity to gain expert insights into the issues facing adolescents today and learn how to respond effectively as a parent or caregiver.
Tickets are free; however, registrations are essential.

As part of this year's Friends of Corpus Catholic Identity & Mission Event, attendees will have the opportunity to experience service in action, reflecting the values that our students live out each day. Attendees will work together to prepare meals for people supported by St Patrick's Community Support Centre, demonstrating the College's commitment to faith through service.
The evening will include the preparation of two meals for approximately 40 people, providing a hands-on experience of outreach and compassion.
A short presentation will also highlight what Catholic Identity and Mission looks like at Corpus Christi College, showcasing the many ways our students put faith into practice through acts of service, stewardship, and community engagement.
This event is designed to provide Friends of Corpus members with a meaningful insight into the College's mission and the importance of serving others with Courage, Commitment and Compassion.

Corpus Christi College proudly presents Nexus Arts Festival, celebrating creativity, expression and community. A display of art through vibrant exhibitions, music and dance where connection and creativity shine. The Nexus Arts Festival runs from Wednesday 9 September - Tuesday 15 September with a variety of Arts offerings.
The word “nexus” refers to a central point of connection where ideas, people and experiences come together. At Corpus Christi College, Nexus represents the meeting place of creativity, collaboration and community. It is where the arts unite us, forming meaningful connections across year levels and disciplines.
The Nexus Arts Festival is our annual celebration of the arts, showcasing the diverse talents of students. Through visual art exhibitions, musical recitals and dance performances, students are encouraged to express themselves, share their gifts and contribute to the vibrant life of our College.
More than a festival, Nexus reflects our commitment to holistic education and the belief that every student has a unique voice worth sharing in whatever form that is. It is a time to honour imagination, foster belonging and ignite the spark of creativity that lives within each learner, guided by our core values of Courage, Commitment and Compassion.

The 2026 Visual Arts Exhibition at Corpus Christi College showcases the creativity and artistic development of our students across all year levels. Featuring an inspiring collection of works in painting, sculpture, mixed media, and digital art, the exhibition captures a broad range of ideas, techniques, and personal expression. From early explorations in colour and form to more refined conceptual and technical investigations, this exhibition celebrates the rich visual language of our student artists.Celebrate creativity across Kindergarten to Year 12 at our annual Art Exhibition.

Inter-House Play - Thursday 10 September
The Inter-House Play Competition is a student-led initiative that invites participation from students in Years 6 to 12. This event provides an opportunity for students to engage in all aspects of theatre-making, including scriptwriting, directing, acting, and design. Each House develops and stages an original short play, encouraging collaboration, leadership, and creative expression. The process aims to foster a deeper appreciation for the performing arts as well as a sense of community and belonging, whilst also supporting the development of emerging talent across year levels.Venue: Caroline Payne Theatre

Corpus Christi College offers a Learn to Swim Program onsite at the Jennifer Reilly Aquatic Centre. The aquatic centre features a covered and heated 25 metre, eight-lane indoor lap and water polo pool, a separate 12 metre learn-to-swim pool and terrace seating for 180 people. Our Learn to Swim Program is facilitated by Speed With Style, a company who provide a unique approach to swim teaching called Individualised Custom Teaching, which was developed by Dr Nigel Williams in collaboration with head coach and Speed with Style Founder - John Williams.
The Learn to Swim Program is available to both Corpus Christi College students and those external to the College.

Looking for a creative and practical after-school activity? After School Sewing Club, run by Corpus parent Ros Watts.
Starting Monday 3 August, these hands-on sessions give students the opportunity to learn new sewing skills, build confidence, express their creativity and create projects they can be proud of. Whether they're picking up a needle for the first time or already love sewing, all skill levels are welcome.

Last month, Year 11 Chisholm student Seb McGuiggan made a serious splash on the national stage when he qualified for the Australian Swimming Trials, held at Sydney Olympic Park from 8–13 June 2026.
In an electrifying week of racing, Seb hit the blocks alongside some of the biggest names in Australian swimming, including Olympic stars Cam McEvoy and Kyle Chalmers. With athletes battling it out for selection for the Commonwealth Games and Pan Pacific Games teams, the atmosphere was fast, fierce and unforgettable.
Seb took on the 50m Butterfly and 50m Breaststroke events, racing among the very best swimmers in the country. With Channel 9 broadcasting the action live, supporters had the chance to watch the excitement unfold as Seb stepped up to compete on one of Australia’s biggest swimming stages.
Whilst Seb didn’t make the Comms Games team, he walked away with the memorable experience of racing against Australia’s elite. The energy, speed and intensity of the Trials left him inspired and more determined than ever to train hard, chase his goals and keep pushing towards his swimming dreams.

Congratulations to Olivia Davey, who has been selected to represent Western Australia in the School Sport WA Girls Hockey Team and will travel to Newcastle in October to compete at the National School Sport Championships.
This outstanding achievement is a testament to Olivia's dedication, perseverance and commitment to her sport. Alongside her hockey commitments, Olivia has worked tirelessly through the Diamond High Performance Program, where she was recently nominated for Junior Female MVP at the program's annual awards.
Adding to this exciting news, Olivia has also progressed through the final round of selections for the Hockey WA Under 14 State Team. The outcome of this selection process will be announced on Wednesday, and we look forward to hearing the result.
We are incredibly proud of Olivia's achievements and wish her every success as she represents Western Australia on the national stage. We look forward to following her journey and celebrating her continued success while proudly flying the Corpus Christi College flag.

Congratulations to Callan Emmerson (Year 10 De Vialar), who proudly represented Western Australia at the 2026 De Fris National Ice Hockey Championships held in New South Wales in July.
This marks the third time Callan has been selected to represent WA as a netminder, a remarkable achievement that reflects his dedication, skill and commitment to the sport.
Competing against the nation's best players, Callan delivered an outstanding tournament, recording an impressive 85% save percentage and playing an important role in the team's success.
After a series of strong performances, the Western Australian team finished the championship with a well-deserved bronze medal.
We congratulate Callan on this outstanding achievement and look forward to following his continued success on the ice.

Congratulations to Mira Agar (Year 2) on her outstanding performance at the School Sport WA Primary Interschool Golf Championships held on 15 June.
Competing against a strong field of 72 students from schools across Western Australia, Mira placed 3rd in the Year 2-4 Girls division. This is an exceptional achievement, particularly as it was her first time competing at the championships.
Mira represented Corpus Christi College with enthusiasm, determination and excellent sportsmanship throughout the event. She thoroughly enjoyed the experience, and her impressive result has provided a wonderful confidence boost as she continues to develop her golfing skills.
We congratulate Mira on this fantastic achievement and look forward to following her golfing journey.

Congratulations to Corpus Christi College Visual Arts Technician, Trevor Bly, who will showcase his work in an upcoming exhibition, Diamond Chin Slop, at the historic Moores Building in Fremantle from 22 August to 7 September.
Presented in collaboration with fellow artist Patrick Doherty, the exhibition brings together a collection of new works exploring themes of place, identity, memory and suburban life. Trevor's distinctive artistic practice, which spans printmaking and mixed media, has earned recognition through numerous awards and exhibitions, with his work drawing inspiration from the stories, symbols and shared experiences that shape local communities.
An Artist Talk and Workshop will also be held on Sunday 30 August, providing visitors with an opportunity to gain insight into the creative processes behind the exhibition.
As a valued member of our Visual Arts team, Trevor plays an important role in supporting and inspiring our students' creativity each day. We are delighted to celebrate this achievement and encourage members of our College community to support Trevor and explore this exciting exhibition.
