Careers Week Spotlight: The Power of Community in Business
After graduating from Corpus Christi College in 2006, Ryan Taddeo went on to build a successful career as a Chartered Accountant. In 2024, he became a Partner at Butler Settineri, a Tax and Business Services firm where he now works closely with a broad range of clients across Perth.
In a unique twist, many of Ryan’s clients are fellow Corpus Christi College alumni. This has given him a valuable perspective on the strengths and shared values that continue to define the Corpus business community long after graduation.
Staying connected beyond school
Ryan remains close friends with many alumni from his graduating year, several of whom, like himself, are now proud Corpus parents.
Beyond these friendships, his professional role has introduced him to many other former students who have since established themselves across a range of industries. These professional relationships have deepened Ryan’s appreciation for the enduring influence of the College.
Over time, he has observed clear and positive common themes among Corpus alumni in business, themes he believes are a direct reflection of the environment created during their school years. It was a place that encouraged students to strive for success while also fostering strong relationships and lifelong connections.
Where Corpus alumni are making an impact
Through his work at Butler Settineri, Ryan supports Corpus alumni across a wide range of sectors, including trades‑based businesses, professional services, health and engineering.
While their industries differ, Ryan notes one important similarity. Many operate service‑based businesses that depend heavily on trust, integrity and reputation. These are qualities he consistently sees reflected in Corpus alumni, qualities that allow them to build strong, lasting relationships with clients and colleagues alike.
Qualities that stand out
When asked about the strengths he sees most often in Corpus alumni, Ryan points to several key traits:
Humility
A strong work ethic
A willingness to help others without hesitation
Ryan often remarks to his clients that this hard‑working mentality is particularly striking and speaks to the values instilled during their time at school. He has also noticed a genuine readiness among alumni to support one another, whether through advice, collaboration or professional referrals.
These combined qualities of humility, trustworthiness and diligence have helped many former students become leaders in their respective fields, something Ryan finds especially rewarding to witness in his role as their business advisor.
Supporting one another into the future
Ryan believes the Corpus alumni network is an accomplished community of grounded, capable people. He encourages alumni to actively seek out connections with others from the College, both professionally and personally.
Looking ahead, Ryan sees value in the development of a dedicated Alumni Business Networking group, offering a structured way for former students to support one another and strengthen professional relationships.
He also finds great satisfaction in watching the next generation of children progress through the College, confident that they too will be equipped with the technical skills and life skills needed to pursue their goals.
A shared legacy
From Ryan’s perspective, the continued success of Corpus alumni across Perth is no coincidence. It reflects a shared foundation built on effort, integrity and community, values that continue to shape lives and careers long after students leave the College gates.
