Amelie Rossi Awarded Murdoch University Scholarship

For Amelie Rossi, a passion for innovation, science and creating opportunities for others has been recognised with a prestigious Ngala Kwop Biddi Brighter Futures Scholarship from Murdoch University.

Awarded to Year 12 students nominated by their school, the scholarship recognises young people who have demonstrated leadership and made a positive impact in their school or wider community through one of Murdoch University's strategic focus areas: Sustainability, First Nations, or Equity, Diversity and Inclusion. The scholarship is valued at $12,000 over three years and provides leadership and development opportunities as recipients begin their university journey.

For Amelie, receiving the scholarship is both an honour and a source of confidence as she prepares for her next chapter in 2027.

"Receiving this scholarship allows me to enter the next stage of my life with confidence, knowing I have the support of Corpus Christi behind me."

A defining moment in Amelie's Corpus journey came through participation in the College's Just Start It program in 2024. The elective challenges students to develop technology-based start-up ideas that address real-world problems while building entrepreneurial thinking, creativity and confidence.

Through the program, Amelie created Infora, a concept for a website designed to provide young people with accessible, relevant and up-to-date career information. Inspired by a desire to support students who may face barriers to accessing career guidance, the platform was developed with regional students, First Nations students and those from lower socioeconomic backgrounds in mind.

Her project was selected to represent Corpus Christi College in a state-wide competition against other Western Australian schools, where she achieved an outstanding third-place finish.

The project's focus on improving access and opportunity for underrepresented young people aligned closely with the scholarship's commitment to equity, diversity and inclusion. Her dedication to creating pathways for others demonstrates the leadership and advocacy the scholarship seeks to recognise.

Amelie's commitment to learning extended beyond the classroom. In January 2026, she completed work experience at Richgro Garden Products, working alongside female chemical engineers and contributing to critical regulatory testing processes prior to product distribution.

These experiences, combined with her passion for science, innovation and community impact, helped shape a scholarship application that reflected both her character and aspirations.

While reflecting on her time at Corpus Christi College, Amelie is quick to acknowledge the people who helped her along the way.

"My most enduring memory of my time at Corpus Christi will always be the care and support shown by the staff and my teachers."

She credits Mrs Miraudo and Mrs Murphy as particularly influential mentors throughout her participation in the Just Start It program.

"I wouldn't be where I am today without their help."

In 2027, Amelie will commence a Bachelor of Agricultural Science, majoring in Crop and Pasture Science at Murdoch University, with aspirations of becoming an agronomist. The scholarship will help alleviate financial barriers, enabling her to focus on her studies and pursue her passion for improving agricultural productivity and sustainability.

Amelie's story reflects the values at the heart of a Corpus education: having the courage to pursue new opportunities, the commitment to making a positive difference and the compassion to use one's talents in service of others.

Before graduating, she leaves younger students with some advice that has guided her own journey:

"Don't let the fear of failure hold you back from taking a chance on yourself. Have courage in your abilities; you'll be surprised how much you can achieve when you really put your mind and effort into it. There will always be opportunities you can take to put yourself out there and get ahead."

Congratulations to Amelie on this outstanding achievement.

We wish her every success as she begins the next chapter of her journey and look forward to seeing the impact she makes in the future.
