Friends of Corpus – Pillar Focus: Learning
Wednesday 11 March 6.30pm - 8.00pm
Our upcoming Friends of Corpus evening will centre on the Pillar of Learning, strengthening the partnership between home and school. Together, we will explore how we support students to grow as confident learners; academically, digitally and personally.
The evening will include two workshop sessions, offering practical insights into our Mathematics approaches, digital platforms, healthy technology habits, and the responsible use of AI at home.
Attendees will be invited to choose from five workshop options, allowing them to participate in two interactive sessions of 30 minutes each. These workshops are designed to provide families with practical strategies they can implement at home to further support their child’s learning. Explore the workshop options below:

Join us for an overview of our Explicit Mathematics Program (EMP) for Pre-Primary to Year 2. This session will provide insight into how structured lessons, daily review and carefully sequenced learning support strong foundations, build confidence, and ensure success for every child in mathematics. Parents will gain a clear understanding of how maths is taught in the Junior School and how they can support learning at home.

We invite families to join us for an overview of our Powerful Problem-Solving approach in Mathematics. In this session, you will learn how structured mathematical challenges promote critical thinking, collaboration, discussion, and reasoning. Through guided inquiry and rich problem-solving tasks, students deepen their understanding and develop strong mathematical fluency. This workshop will provide a clear overview of how to access key information, monitor academic progress, view feedback and assessments, and communicate effectively with teachers. Our aim is to ensure families feel informed, empowered, and supported in partnering with the College.

Join our Head of ICT for a practical and empowering workshop designed to support families in building healthy technology habits at home. Drawing on the Common Sense Media framework, this session will explore age-appropriate expectations, screen time balance, online safety, and positive digital behaviours. Parents will be introduced to practical Family Tech Plans that help establish clear routines, boundaries, and shared agreements, empowering children to use technology in safe, balanced and responsible ways.

Join us for a practical parent session on how artificial intelligence can support student learning at home. This workshop explores everyday uses of AI, opportunities and risks for young people, and the importance of digital literacy, privacy, and critical thinking. Parents will gain simple, ethical strategies to help with assessment planning, revision, and homework while promoting independence, academic integrity, and responsible technology use.
