Dance Company 2017
Congratulation to the dancers who successfully auditioned for a place in the 2017 Dance Company. With 139 students auditioning, competition was fierce for the 84 places in the Company. We were blown away by the talent and enthusiasm of all the dancers and thank them for their interest in the Dance program at Corpus.
The Dance Company has now commenced their weekly rehearsals in preparation for their performance at the Catholic Performing Arts Festival in Term 3. The dancers will be learning new choreography, honing their dancing skills and building friendships with other dancers across the year groups. We are really excited to be working with such a talented bunch of students.
Ballet Repertoire class
We are excited to offer, for the first time at Corpus, a Ballet Repertoire class as part of our extra-curricular program. Thirteen students from Years 7 to 12 have selected to be involved in this program and have begun to learn the Dance of the Cygnets from 'Swan Lake'. We look forward to seeing this ballet program continue to grow. If you are interested in being part of this program please come to speak to Mrs. Fuhr in the Arts Office.
Boyz Dance Crew
Seventeen boys from Years 7-12 have joined the Boyz Dance Crew this year and have begun to learn a variety of challenging skills in dance genres such as hip hop, breakdancing, acrobatics, capoeira and contemporary dance. This year, for the first time at Corpus, the Boyz Dance Crew is entering a dance piece into the Catholic Performing Arts Festival. If you are interested in being part of this program please come to speak to Mr. Bain in the Arts Office.
The Corpus Dance Collective is an invitation only ensemble that gives the most talented dancers from Years 7-12 the opportunity to extend their skills beyond what is learnt in curriculum classes. This year, 27 students have accepted a place in the Collective and have begun weekly rehearsals. In these rehearsals the students not only learn advanced dance technique but also get to be involved in a collaborative choreographic process as they work on creating a dance piece for the Catholic Performing Arts Festival in Term 3.
