Welcome Message from the Principal

Mrs Caroline Payne, Principal
Dear Students, Parents, Staff and Visitors
Corpus Christi College is a Catholic co-educational secondary college established in 1983 by the Catholic Education Commission. Today, it is comprised of 1150 students from Year 7 to 12 primarily serving the Parish Communities of Bateman, Willetton, Applecross, Riverton and Canning Vale. Set on spacious grounds with excellent educational facilities surrounded by landscaped gardens, visitors often refer to the peaceful ambience as they enter the campus.
Corpus Christi College has an excellent reputation as a fine Catholic co-educational secondary education in the southern suburbs. Whether it has been its academic results, sporting prowess or the high calibre of cultural performance in the arts, the reputation of the college has been strong over a number of years.
In the Mandate to Catholic Schools, the Bishops of WA note that Catholic schools are important means through which the Church evangelises in the world of today. ‘One of the key tasks of the Catholic school is to form Christian men and women committed to the love, compassion and justice of the Gospel of Jesus Christ…Catholic schools make a distinctive contribution in the provision of educational excellence in WA’ (2009, para 6). This is of key importance to parents who select Corpus Christi College for their daughter or son’s secondary education, a knowledge that a holistic education which incorporates strong Catholic Christian values based on the gospels, that challenges all young people to use their God given talents and gifts, that encourages them to be fully committed to social justice in order to transform society to the kind of world envisaged by God. There is a unique emphasis on the building of community at Corpus Christi College – in partnership with parents we are a strong part of a number of contributing parish communities, which help young people feel a sense of belonging, commitment and support beyond their years at the college.
Schools cannot be indifferent to the working lives that await their students when they move into the adult world - they cannot shut their gates and leave the outside world beyond them. The opportunities for girls and boys at Corpus Christi College prepares them for their next step in life’s journey. Firstly, to develop their faith through experiencing a strong Religious Education programme balanced with opportunities in liturgical, spiritual and social justice experiences; secondly, to be challenged within a stimulating and interactive learning environment that starts with the International Baccalaureate Middle Years programme in Year 7 and concludes with a senior school programme that enables a focus on selecting a course that a student can excel in so that a broad choice of opportunities beyond Year 12 are available to them; thirdly, to be provided with a range of extra-curricular activities in the sporting, creative and practical arts and cultural fields. Along with a pastoral care programme that focuses on developing a strong sense of belonging to the community of Corpus Christi College, these four areas form the balanced education that is provided all students in their six years of secondary schooling.
It is both an extraordinary responsibility and a privilege to have been invited to lead the Corpus Christi College community in the coming years and to contribute to the vision of the College and embrace its ethos as revealed by our motto ‘Follow the Lord’.
I now invite you to browse through our website to experience a snap-shot of the College community.
Best wishes and God bless.
