Teaching Assistant (Special Needs)

Full-time preferred, part-time possible – one year contract with the possibility of extension

A temporary position exists for a dynamic, hard-working and enthusiastic Teaching Assistant (Special Needs) looking for a new challenge for 2018.

It is essential the successful staff member will be physically able to assist male students with their requirements for daily living whilst they are at school, including feeding, walking with them to classes and toileting. 

Essential qualities (selection criteria) include:

  • Demonstrate interpersonal skills in order to be able to work in a team.
  • Demonstrate planning and assessment strategies for students with disabilities.
  • Demonstrate excellent organisational and communication skills with both students and team members
  • Confidence in using a variety of learning strategies for students with disabilities to assist teachers in the Education Support Centre and inclusive classroom including the use of assistive technology devices.
  • Demonstrate a proactive approach in assisting teachers to support students as part of the strategies outlined in their Individual Education Plans.

Preferred applicants should be qualified and experienced, and have a good understanding of working with students with disabilities and learning difficulties.

The successful applicants will have the ability to remain calm and efficient under pressure, have a warm and friendly disposition, excellent interpersonal skills and be able to assist an individual student or small groups in mainstream, as well as in specialised environments (e.g. Home Economics or Design and Technology classrooms).

Admissions Registrar (re-advertised)

Part-time (0.8FTE)

The College is seeking applications for the position of Admissions Registrar.

Applicants with experience in enrolment administration at an educational institution are encouraged to apply, along with dynamic administrators from other industries seeking a new challenge.

The role is responsible for the coordination of the enrolments process for the College, including end-to-end administration, enquiry management and involvement in marketing initiatives. In providing this support, the Admissions Registrar plays a key role in publicising the College to prospective parents and students, as well as the greater community.

A personable, forward-thinking and organised individual with a positive attitude and a customer-focused approach to service is required. The preferred applicant will also have:

  • High level communication and interpersonal skills, including experience in building and maintaining relationships with a diverse range of internal and external stakeholders
  • Demonstrated excellent organisational skills, including the ability to prioritise and manage multiple tasks concurrently
  • Ability to work autonomously, as well as in a busy team
  • Proficient in the use of Excel and other databases, Microsoft Office, email and online resources
  • Sound knowledge of, or ability to understand and monitor, all visa requirements and Government procedures relating to international students
  • Experience in, or sound understanding of, the secondary education environment
  • Experience in event organisation and marketing campaigns
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality
  • Ability to work flexible hours as the role demands
  • Excellent attention to detail
